Re: HP DL380 G6 - how to setup with no operating system for storage
You can only achieve this by Mapping a network drive of server with 16 x 900Gb HDD on existing working server. Without OS on another server you cannot implement this configuration.

Re: HP DL380 G6 - how to setup with no operating system for storage
Hello,
if you need the 2nd as Network Storage just watch FreeNAS. Very simple to handle and run perfect. The Only think you should change your HDD Controller to a simple HBA...

Re: HP DL380 G6 - how to setup with no operating system for storage
Hi,
San boot will be the ideal solution but that will cost you extra if you don't have an external storage.

Re: HP DL380 G6 - how to setup with no operating system for storage
Hi,
the Server support netboot via pxe, some NICs supports also iScsi. All Unixlike OS can boot via Network. For pxe you need a Computer with TFTP and the netbootimage of the OS for your 2. Server.
