HP ML350p Gen 8 - Need to wipe disks
I have a RAID1 failure in my main server SERVER01 becuase one of the two disks is failed. I need to use an exact same disk from another retired server and put this in SERVER01, in place of the failed disk. I need to wipe the replacement disk before replacing the failed disk in SERVER01.
I tried the erase tool in Smart Storage Administrator, which says that it is erasing but after two days had never moved from 0% erased. Is there another quick way that I can erase all data on the disk?

Re: HP ML350p Gen 8 - Need to wipe disks
Just insert the disk while server is running. No need to wipe the disk.
Do NOT insert the disk while the server is off.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP ML350p Gen 8 - Need to wipe disks
Interesting, I would have normally shut off the server and then inserted the replacement hard drive.
My concern here is that if I put in a second disk that HAS DATA ON IT, then the RAID might mirror the wrong way. This is why I would rather wipe everything on the disk, so that it would be just like it came out of the box.

Re: HP ML350p Gen 8 - Need to wipe disks
Pull the bad disk and insert the new disk online. Check in SSA.
What you wrote may happen if you swap the disk while the power is off.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP ML350p Gen 8 - Need to wipe disks
Hello,
Try to follow the below steps.
1. Delete the raid configuration form the SSA, before moving the hard disk from another working server to SERVER01.
Note:. Make sure you should have the complete data of both the servers.
2.After that put into in the server SERVER01. online, it will start rebuilding.
