Hi All,
I have a problem with my 2000 server and HP Power Manager 3.1 being able to manage the RX3000XR UPS it is serially attached to. I get the message "No device" when I enter this server's IP address as the "controller".
In Device Manager, the UPS is installed and works properly.
Am I missing something here?

Solution
Dean,
It sounds like you are trying to setup the protected server as a remote agent. Normally, the server with serial cable attached to the UPS must be the Management Server. So in your case, if you only have one server to manage, make this a management server only. You will have to uninstall the remote agent instance before you can re-configure it as management server. Brieftly after the Installshield installation, a configuration application will start automatically to allow you to discover the UPS via serial connection.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: HP Power Manager - No Device -Managing R3000XR UPS
Guh!
You're right... I had downloaded the client on the server instead of the management software.
Sorry I wasted your time. <:o}

I'll pay more attention to the files I download from now on. ;)
