Re: HP Rack and Power Manager cant communicate with R3000XR UPS

I think we may have gone a bit off the issue to be honest. The problem I have is the invalid username/password issue. See attached screenshot

I am sure the password is OK after numerous reinstalls etc on 2 different servers now.

Initially I had to rebuild the server that was the HPRPM Manager due to software failure and it was when I put HPRPM back on that I got this error. The password is the same as the one that was previously being used. Whatever I do though, I get invalid username/password. I presume the password is not stored in the UPS though? Whether I have some sort of Internet Explorer issue I dont know

I have 8 servers hanging off this UPS and this is the only UPS I am concerned about

Thanks for your time

No, the password is not stored in the UPS, it is stored in a local ACL for RPM. If you only have one UPS then RPM is not the best way to go anyway. Did yo not setup a password during the install? did you try to login with Admin (capital A) to see if this make a difference?

Would you be willing to try power manager 4.0? This I think is the best option.

If you decide to try PowerManager 4.0 the default username and password is both admin.

RPM is designed for more of the data center environement where power manager 4.0 is designed for the single UPS multi agent environment (similar to lansafe).

users guide for HPPM 4.0 --> http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00210166/c00210166.pdf

Let me know how it goes

Re: HP Rack and Power Manager cant communicate with R3000XR UPS

Thanks. Yes, I have specified the password on install, and used Admin. The screenshot was a 5th attempt I think... but no luck

I shall try out Power Manager, I really only used HPRPM as the agents are already on the machines here.

Will let you know how I get on.

Power Manager was the way to go. It's one of those things, but I had dismissed it at some point and didnt think of trying it again. It communicates with the UPS fine and with all agents.

Thanks

Hi Jared, you need to install the following fix:

I have installed it onto my server and it worked perfectly.

Cheers
