HPE DL20 Gen10 w/S100i not recognizing 872475-B21

Hi all,
I have dug around through the forums and cannot seem to find this issue already posted. So here is the issue, I just recently purchased several HPE DL20 Gen10 (P06478-B21) servers with a bunch of 300GB (872475-B21) drives to upgrade older servers. No matter what I have tried on the servers, they will not recognize the drives. I have tried updating all the firmware in the Gen10 server using the latest SPP (2020.03.0). However, all I get is it does not recognize them at all in the Intelligent Provisioning RAID tool or an orange fail light on the drive. I have even tried the drives in our DL20 Gen9 servers, they seem to work fine in them without issue, and the RAID tool recognizes them. I have combed over the support documentation and it all says the drives are compatible with the Gen10 so I am at a loss of what to try next.

Thanks for any help or ideas you may have.

Hi all,

Okay after another day of trying a whack of stuff. I am at a loss of what else to try. I am really hoping it is a "Can't see the forest for the trees" on my part, and not a hardware incompatability issue, even though the support documentation says they are compatible. As it will be a bunch of money wasted on drives that I have opend and installed in the servers that will be unusable.

Thanks for any advice or ideas you may have.

Re: HPE DL20 Gen10 w/S100i not recognizing 872475-B21

Thank you Vinod for the reply. I just went through with tech support at about the same time as your replay and they pointed out it was SATA only controller as well. I hadn't noticed it when going through the specs as I didn't really expect that as a default option, I was expecting SAS. Going to have to order a controller for each server now to use the drives I already have, it will be cheaper in the long run rather than buying new drives.
