NVMe device in Gen9 DL120 / DL160 PCIe3 slot

I am planning on purchasing a Gen9 DL120 or Gen9 DL160.  I want to make sure I am not about to put myself through a lot of pain and suffering and unexpected costs before executing my plan.

I want to install a 1TB Intel DC P4500 into the full height PCIe3 slot. I know I will have to use something such as a StarTech U.2 to PCe adapter.  Is this supported? I would like to boot from that drive, but it does not ruin my plans if I have to boot from something else.

Re: NVMe device in Gen9 DL120 / DL160 PCIe3 slot

I purchased a DL120 Gen9 & had a spare Intel SSD Series 750 AIC. I plugged the drive into the primary PCIe riser board & was able to install Windows Server 2019.

Although the inbox drivers recognized the device, I used the Intel RST F6 drivers.
