P222 controller on ML310e Gen 8 v2 doesn't detect hard drives

For my ML310e Gen8 v2 I bought a P222 raid controller. I currently have 4 drives attached in the LFF bay. 3 SATA and one SAS. 

The onboard b120i finds the SATA drives. I plugged the mini SAS cable from the drive bay into the P222 raid controller.

It sees the controller during boot bun to attached drives what so ever. 

I also can't use F5 or F10 to setup a raid. It just doensn't respond.

I don't have a cache module and battery attached to the p222. It gives a warning about limitations at boot but it should work, right?

Yes, should work.

Consider to install (recover) a new Intelligent Provisioning version from ISO in order to use SSA.

I actually don't even want to use the raid option. I am installing openmediavault and just want to use the softRAID option in OMV on my SAS drives.

Accidentally set it to solved.

It won't update from the DVD unfortunately. It says 'Error flashing the NVRAM'. 

Might this be connected to an error with the embedded flash memory?

I tried to reformat it twice now from within ILO but it now gives this error in ILO: 

"Controller firmware revision 2.10.00 NAND read failure: Media is in a WRITE-PROTECTED state "

Re-installing IP make sense only if the NAND is healthy.

Try to update ILO first, directly from the ILO page using the *.bin file (download the WIndows file and extract it).

I managed to update ILO to version 2.79.

It still won't get the flash memory from degraded state. 

In the ILO event log the latest entry says:

"Embedded Flash/SD-CARD: Embedded media initialization failed due to media write-verify test failure"

I have formatted the flash memory, then shutdown the server and unplugged the power cord.  Still not working. It looks like the flash memory is not really getting formatted.

I am looking at replacing the board as after several reformat attempts later still no luck.

Since I don't have Intelligent Provisioning anymore am I out of options for getting the P222 working with my SAS drives? If I replace the board can I then use the RAID controller to create RAIDS with IP?

Thanks. That is a lifesaver!! I can boot into the cd and see the drives on my P222 raid controller. I still might get a new motherboard, but I don't really need one now!!
