Proliant DL360 Gen7 Unexpected Shutdown

Hello Folks,

I have a Proliant DL360 Gen7 that has been working for years without issues. Suddenly, with no changes, the server is powering down right after the Smart Array configuration screen. If I press F9 I can't go to the BIOS as it powers down anyways.

Could you please help on this?

Thanks,

Joao.

Re: Query: Proliant DL360 Gen7 Unexpected Shutdown

Hi Team,

Thanks very much for your reply. I am not sure if that is related to this case:

The message please upgrade firmware is there since long time - EH0146FARWD. In addition to that the server powers down and can't reach the BIOS configuration.

Tried to clear CMOS via switch, use the minimum memory, reseat PSU and FAN modules.

Thanks if any other feedback/recommendation.

Joao.

Re: Query: Proliant DL360 Gen7 Unexpected Shutdown

Greetings!

Please check if you see any error message on the POST. If you have iLO configured, please check the "Integrated Management logs" for any events.

Please ensure there is no environmental temperature issues.

Please test with one PSU at a time in both the slots.

Please ensure power source is good known.

Please test the server in minimum hardware configuration, with single CPU and single DIMM and without any add on cards installed to further narrow down the issue.

If the issue persists in minimum hardware configuration, clear NVRAM using System maintenance switch on the system board.

Re: Query: Proliant DL360 Gen7 Unexpected Shutdown

Greetings!
Thanks for your reply. It looks like I have the following scenario:
- iLO is disabled;
- the USB keyboard is not working when the splash screen is displayed which
does not allow me to type F10, F11 (upgrade BIOS via Pendrive or boot from
Pendrive) or F12 to boot via PXE;
I am waiting to receive a console cable to check if I can connect via
console and possibly run RBSU from there.
Please, do you think that would be the correct procedure to recover from
this situation?
I've tested the minimum hardware configuration and the results are the same
which means the machine powers down after the P410i array controller
configuration - I believe it is normal if the operating system boot is
corrupted. I've also tried to clear the NVRAM using the System maintenance
switch.
Thanks for your help!
Best regards,
Joao.

Re: Query: Proliant DL360 Gen7 Unexpected Shutdown

Greetings!

If the operating system is corrupted, server will try to find boot device and continue in a reboot loop.

Seeing the symptoms, the suspected part could be the system board. You could take the server to a nearest HPE service center, who could diagnose further and confirm the failed part.
