Provisioning HPE DL Servers

Hi

I have a question about deploying multiple servers. We get 25 identical servers and they should all have ESXi installed. Important: It's about DL Server Gen10 Plus

Now I'm interested in how you do it. Which parts have you automated and how do you do it?
- Configure Intelligent Provisioning
- Configure ILO
- Attach OneView Profile
- Install ESXi
- Configure ESXi

Thank you for your information, details or inputs

Re: Provisioning HPE DL Servers

Hi
Most of the steps you mention below (iLO, Intelligent Provisioning) could be controlled within OneView via a templte. If the setting is not available then look at the powershell
iLO - https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_6450d27906114779afde23c875

If you look at OneView for VCentre then this might cover off the bottom 3

Don't forget there is an extensive powershell library for OneView

Re: Provisioning HPE DL Servers

Once you configure iLO5 for  DL Server Gen10 Plus, you can add these servers to OneView appliance and automate below Server profile features.

BIOS settings

Firmware

Boot order

Local storage

SAN storage

For more information please refer HPE OneView Deployment and Management Guide

Or

You can use iLO federation for iLO group configuration.

iLO supports the following features:

тАвGroup health statusтАФView server health and model information.

тАвGroup virtual mediaтАФConnect URL-based media for access by a group of servers.

тАвGroup power controlтАФManage the power status of a group of servers.

тАвGroup power cappingтАФSet dynamic power caps for a group of servers.

тАвGroup firmware updateтАФUpdate the firmware of a group of servers.

тАвGroup license installationтАФEnter a license key to activate iLO licensed features on a group of servers.

тАвGroup configurationтАФAdd iLO Federation group memberships for multiple iLO systems.

Re: Provisioning HPE DL Servers

Thanks @StorageMike and @AmRa for your answers.

With Oneview I can cover a few points. But I would be more interested in the sequence and processes and whether these are automated.

It starts with how ILO is initially configured. Is there someone else sitting at the server with a monitor or is there script solutions (if ILO is in a DHCP network). Then ILO, Intelligent Provisioning and Oneview are configured. Again, are these manual interventions or how can some part be automated? By automated I mean:
This is server with ILO X, should have this configuration and profiles from Oneview. Then a script runs or whatever and takes the steps.
From your answers I can't currently see that and I don't feel that HPE offers a smart solution here (compared to other manufacturers)
