Software for R3000 UPS
Its an R3000h-NA with brand new batteries (NOT an R3000XR)
I am having trouble finding software to control it.
Without a management tool, it appears to shutdown on minimal load after only running for 5 min on batteries.
I have tried the following software:
Insight Manager 5
Insight Manager 7
LanSafe III
Compaq Power Management software (requires Insight Agents 3.2, but Insight Agents 3.2 will not install on Windows 2000)
Most of these support the R3000XR.... but that is a different model.
The R3000h-NA has a specially wired comm cable (part 295245). The XR has a straight-through cable.
All of the sw tested fails to see the UPS. Lights blink but no connections are established.
If I cannot find a way to make this monster work, I have just spent close to $1000 on a system that provides power backup for 5 minutes max.

Re: Software for R3000 UPS
Found out that this model is a re-badged Powerware 5119. The LanSafe V5 software from www.powerware.com seems to work well.
Also found from the user guide that it will go into "sleep mode" (ie shutdown) if drawing less than 5% load. This is the reason why it only provided backup for 5 minutes. I have since changed this setting and it is now running perfectly.
