I've bought a Power Trust II to put on my rp5430 box running HP-UX 11.00, the thing is that I don't have any software from the HP for the UPS management... And I want that UPS to send me an alert when it uses is batteries.
What software should I use??? Is there one included with HP-UX??
Thanks
Jonathan

Re: UPS Power Trust 2 sending an alert....
I believe ups_mond would suit your purposes. It comes with the system, monitors a serial connection to the UPS, and can be configured via /etc/ups_conf. Take a look at the man pages for ups_mond and ups_conf.

Re: UPS Power Trust 2 sending an alert....
by default you should have OnlineDiagnostics installed and the monitor would generate an entry in syslog and and e-mail to root for events >= MAJOR WARNING.
You could run /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig
and add a request e.g.:
a

3
4
6
yourname@yourcompany.com
c
c
y
Then (back at the ascii menu)
check with s and c options

SolutionUPS Manager II may be suitable for your application, here's a link to some docs on it: http://h30140.www3.hp.com/object/UPS_manager_II.html
It does allow for scripts to be run when an alert condition occurs; you could script an email/pager message. I believe UPS Manager II is a chargeable product.
regards,
Darren.
