can someone tell me what is the difference between RISC and CISC ?

Can someone tell me what is the difference between RISC and CISC ? and also what are the advantages and disadvantages of each type(RISC and CISC)? thank you.

RISC = Reduced Instruction Set Computers

CISC = Complex Instruction Set Computers

CISC came first, then came RISC.

RISC is/was an attempt to allow a processor to deliver the most processing power per clock cycle.

Both technologies have advantages and disadvantages.

An example...

the Pentium 4 is a CISC processor

the PowerPC chip is a RISC processor
(hope I got that right, I susually mix them up)
