what is difference between HP Proliant and HP 9000 & HP integrity

Hi

In my company. All Linux servers are installed in HP proliant

Ex: ProLiant BL25p G1
ProLiant BL25p G1
ProLiant BL25p G1
Proliant BL30p
ProLiant BL680C G5

And all HP-UX 11.11 is installed in HP 9000/800/rpXXXX

Ex:

So pls clarify me the differnce.

The difference as follows

HP proliant server is intel base processor.
HP9000 server is PARISC processor
HP integrity server is ITANIUM base processor

The main difference is hardware architecture especially processor.

There are three kind of processor family being used on these servers.

So called CISC processor either intel or AMD processors are used on prolient servers which supports windows/linux/scounix/unixware/netware etc..

RISC processors are used in HP9000 servers which supports HP-UX only.

New generation ITANIUM processors are used in Integrity servers which supports HP-UX/windows/linux

All servers have different architecture and feature..

We can not install HP-UX in Prolient etc.

As per our requirement and application we are using one or all for that.

Hi,

All the ProLiant servers you mention use Intel processors and are Blade Servers.

The HP-UX systems are running 11.11, current version is 11.31 (there was also 11.23 in-between in terms of widely adopted versions).

The HP9000 range utilised the PA-RISC processor, which is now discontinued. The next number, 800, refers to the hardware classification being a server. 700 refers to a workstation system. Your list has a mix of both. In terms of server system age:

K-Class are the oldest
L-Class & N-Class
rp34xx & rp44xx are the newest (note rp prefix)

The PA-RISC systems will only run HP-UX. Whereas in the main you might find your ProLiants running Windows or Linux.
The HP Integrity range (model starts with rx), of which you don't list any, use the Intel Itanium processor. These systems can run HP-UX (11.23 or above), Windows, Linux, and OpenVMS.

Is HP Proliant servers are 64 bit?

That depends on what processor is used in the ProLiant, but generally newer machines will be 64 bit capable.

Check the QuickSpecs of each server to be sure.
