Much to learn from the new Gartner Report: How to select your optimal SAP HANA systems vendor

Gartner’s newest report on SAP HANA adoption is a must read, wherever you are in your migration journey to SAP HANA.

HPE-optimal SAP HANA solution-blog.jpgThe global research and analyst firm, Gartner, Inc., recently published its 2019 report on SAP HANA adoption and the SAP HANA vendor landscape: How to Select Your Optimal SAP HANA Systems Vendor.*

An extensive update (and new title) following the 2018 Gartner research note, What You Need to Know When Selecting an SAP HANA Server Vendor, the report provides a fresh look at SAP HANA vendor deployments by total, project maturity, memory size, appliance, Tailored Data Center Integration (TDI), SAP S/4HANA, and SAP BW/4HANA. Year-over-year growth in SAP HANA deployments and among select vendors remains strong and is projected to stay so for many years to come, though forces are inhibiting widespread adoption. Gartner provides guidance in overcoming restraints.

In addition to a revised list of nine system vendors, Gartner’s analysis of SAP HANA vendors incorporates the four largest SAP HANA cloud vendors. To assist in assessing where SAP HANA aligns within an enterprise cloud strategy, Gartner looks at on-premises vs. off, provides clear recommendations surrounding the public cloud, and discusses hybrid SAP HANA architectures.

The advent of persistent memory is also discussed. Gartner offers guidance in leveraging this new technology for powering the in-memory database capabilities of SAP HANA.

Wherever you are in your migration journey to SAP HANA, from early planning to expanding SAP HANA across your enterprise, Gartner’s newest report is a must read: How to Select Your Optimal SAP HANA Systems Vendor. (Registration required to download.)

Building on solution leadership for SAP environments

Our leadership in SAP HANA system deployments (by a wide margin) is driven by more than HPE’s deep understanding of in-memory computing and superior system portfolio. We recognize moving to SAP HANA is one of the most significant events your organization will undertake and, drawing upon unique expertise and services capabilities, we pride ourselves on delivering SAP HANA solutions that achieve our customer’s business objectives.

That expertise comes from the 1000s of SAP HANA customers we serve and from meeting the broader SAP workload needs of more than 25,000 customers. It comes from co-innovation labs with SAP. And it comes from being one of SAP’s largest software users, being one of SAP’s largest HANA and S/4HANA customer environments, and from implementing a sweeping hybrid cloud architecture that now powers our global company.

This has led to richer SAP services and solution partnerships. Our Pointnext Services team now offers a hybrid cloud advisory service that guides business lines on when, why and how to leverage the public cloud or private cloud (on-prem, co-lo, or hosted) for your SAP ecosystem. We’ve expanded partnerships with other SAP experts such as Deloitte to help guide strategic discussions surrounding SAP workloads and equip business lines throughout S/4HANA migrations. And following the success of HPE GreenLake to achieve cloud economics, we’ve partnered with Accenture to free organizations from data center burdens by providing full SAP and SAP HANA workload management in secure, performance-optimized facilities in the United States and United Kingdom.

Yes, it’s a good time to be an SAP customer—with more to come.
