Adding a single-socket platform to the growing AMD-based HPE server portfolio

HPE is introducing its newest addition to the Gen10 server line—the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server. Here's why it matters and what you need to know.

The HPE ProLiant server portfolio is getting a new addition this month. On June 5th, HPE announced the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server, a 1P 1U, AMD EPYC™-based platform. While server announcements happen fairly often in the industry, this announcement is big news for several reasons—with the primary one being the promise of the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server to deliver two-socket (2P) performance with one-socket (1P) economics.

Single socket is disrupting the data center

The HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server—with its dense single-socket rackmount architecture—is already garnering impressive performance benchmarks, compared to a competitive two-socket system, thanks to its AMD EPYC SoC architecture.

The HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server is a solid choice for virtualization. Recent benchmarks show the server has a 27 percent better price per VM, based on SPECvirt_sc2013 results[2] when compared with a standard two-socket server.
