The explosive growth in mobile transactions and data volumes, cloud deployments, and social networking is fundamentally changing the mission critical computing landscape. As businesses interact in new ways with both end users and customers, the importance of near real-time decision-making, online transaction processing, batch processing, ERP and database applications is crucial for success.

Addressing these higher-volume, high-value workloads with the flexibility of an x86 platform can give enterprises a competitive edge. In this environment, the demand for purpose-built compute platforms to power the most demanding business processing and data-intensive workloads is escalating.

To meet these growing demands, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is extending our leading portfolio of mission-critical solutions with a new 8-socket scale-up platform – the HPE Integrity MC990 X Server. This new server is designed for large business processing and decision support Linux workloads. It complements the existing Integrity product line of mission-critical solutions and reinforces our commitment to deliver the right compute for the right workload at the right economics, every time. HPE Integrity MC990 X’s rack-mounted 8-socket platform joins our flagship HPE Integrity Superdome X server, which is designed for maximum performance, scalability and availability, as well as the HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen9 Server, designed for 4-socket scalability. The MC990 X server features Intel® Xeon® E7-8800 v3 processors, delivers built-in reliability and comes with up to 6TB of memory to handle the demands of in-memory database technology.

This offering is based on a technology partnership between SGI and HPE, where we will OEM the SGI UV technology as the foundation for this solution. With this agreement, we can meet the time-to-market demands, while delivering the highest value to customers to meet all of their performance, scalability and availability requirements.

But where to start? Understanding your mission-critical platform strategy, as well as your workloads, data needs, platform options, and support for your evolving environment are all critical. You may already have a clear vision and need to understand the deployment, integration process, business case, and timelines. Or, you may need help building a roadmap aligned with your strategy and priorities. Then choosing the right support to meet your business and IT needs is key. We have the services that will help you evolve no matter what direction you take - Platform modernization, migration, consulting services and flexible IT consumption and support options will give you the flexibility, confidence and level of support you need to make a smooth transition to the HPE Mission Critical Solution Portfolio.

In a world where hard-earned loyalty can be lost in seconds, running your business at top speed is critical to maintaining a competitive advantage. In addition, gaining business insights with real-time data analytics is the key to giving your customers a personalized experience that builds loyalty. The goal of our mission critical portfolio is to provide you with all of the above through solutions you can rely on – without fail.

Customers looking to support scale-up Linux workloads with 8-socket capacity and efficiency need to look no further than the MC990 X. For more information, I invite you to read the data sheet.
