Red Hat Summit and HP Discover, same week, 2000 miles apart

HP Strategic Alliance Manager for Red Hat

For the HP and Red Hat alliance teams, our respective end user conferences have always been a highlight on our joint planning calendar.   This is where we have the chance to demonstrate how we are working together to bring greater value to our joint customers.  There are a lot of event driven activities that make it very busy in the weeks leading up to the conference, but much the real work was put in motion a year or more earlier.  Decisions about investments in integration, collaboration on engineering, support, training, marketing, and sales all depend on an extended team guided by a joint executive level commitment.  End user conferences give us a chance to demonstrate what we have been doing together and discuss why we think it matters.

Of all the things we do plan together, setting the dates of our respective conferences is not one of them.  That happens elsewhere in both corporations.  This year, HP Discover in Las Vegas takes place the same week as Red Hat Summit in Boston.  Although the two events are 2000 miles apart, we have a great team at both events ready to show and discuss some of the more innovative solutions we have available for customers who look to HP and Red Hat for their IT infrastructure.   I’m happy to be part of the go-Boston crew along with the rest of the HP team at Red Hat Summit.

As an alliance, we think “open source, open standards, open future” is a good way to drive how we approach our work together.  This year at Summit we will be discussing several solutions that really bring it all together, such as the HP CloudSystem which incorporates OpenStack technology and supports provisioning of heterogeneous resource pools, including RHEL KVM.

If you are a HP ProLiant user, you will be interested to see Insight Control for RHEV.  This is a great example of how we are able to integrate HP and Red Hat technologies.  This solution enables HP server management from within the RHEV management console.  We are showing a beta version of this in the HP booth and are looking for feedback.

We will also have a HP Moonshot Server in our booth (#1007).  This high density, low energy server will dramatically change the datacenter landscape.  We were proud to have Red Hat as one of our partners supporting our launch (see What Red Hat is saying about HP Moonshot).

For fun, we have a limited number of The Rise of the Guardians DVDs that we will be giving out to the first hundred or so visitors to our booth who fill out the entry card they will find in their conference bag.   There is a reason we chose this movie.  Look for the video with DreamWorks Animation discussing the HP technology behind the movie that we will be running in spots around the conference, or check it out: DreamWorks Animation Drives Innovation with HP in "Rise of the Guardians"

In addition to the DVD, we will have 2 drawings during the show for HP laptops - everyone who visits the HP booth can enter.  Please do stop by and visit, we are looking forward to meeting with you.  And, for anyone attending HP Discover, the Red Hat booth is #1248.  There you can find out why HP Converged Infrastructure is a great platform for deploying Red Hat virtualization and cloud technologies.
