Smart Array Controller Tips: Firmware updates & Smart Array Event Log Usage
Joe Black, HP Firmware engineer within HPยดs Smart Storage team which is responsible for HP Smart Array RAID controllers for HP ProLiant Servers, will share with you a quick how-to on updating your firmware.
Joe will show you how to update firmware on your Smart Array RAID controller using our HP Smart Component for Microsoft Windows in the following video:
Updating controller firmware is quick and easy using our HP Smart Component for HP ProLiant servers and the HP Smart Component for Microsoft Windows.
For more information on the Update Firmware on a HP Smart Array Controller operation and HP Smart Array Controllers see the following reference link: www.hp.com click on Drivers & Support, enter your controller name in the โsearchโ bar, select your Operating system and you will find the firmware updates.
Another useful tip introduced by HP Software Engineer for the HP Smart Storage team, Justin Reynolds, provides informative insights on how to use and configure the Smart Array SAS/SATA event notification service. The Notification Service is a useful Windows application designed to quickly and reliably gather information about your Smart Array RAID controller.
The built-in event log located in Windows allows you to find informational, warning, and error messages. The Notification Service will populate the logs with messages related to all Smart Array controllers in your server. These messages can be as simple as telling you that a drive has been inserted to warning you when a drive is in a predictive failure state.
Watch as Justin walks you through how to find and interpret messages generated by the Notification Service:
