Hi we have a Serviceguard 11.19 cluster that is now a 4 node cluster. We just added 2 nodes to this cluster online and dynamically with no downtime.
Next we want to add the new nodes to our one package we have in the pkg.conf file and then apply the changes online or at least we were hoping to. We were going to do this by doing the following:
- Edit /etc/cmcluster/pkg.conf and add new nodes
- Copy new /etc/cmcluster/pkg.conf file to all nodes in cluster
- cmcheckconf -v -P /etc/cmcluster/pkg1/pkg.conf
- cmapplyconf -P /etc/cmcluster/pkg1/pkg1.conf
Looking at the 11.19 Serviceguard Admin Guide we don't see any case scenario that spells this out as an online change and we were hoping some folks that have familiarity around this could chime in on to confirm that this change can be done online with Serviceguard 11.19.. (Failover of the package by the way is scheduled for an upcoming maintenance window)
Thanks,
KPS

Re: Adding Nodes to Serviceguard Package online (11.19)
Don't forget to copy package control file to your newly added nodes in which you want to run the packages.

SolutionAll versions of Serviceguard permit the admin to add additional nodes to a package online, regardless of whether the package style is modular or legacy.
If the package is a legacy style package, copy the package control script to the new adoptive nodes.
It is not necessary to copy the package configuration file to the adoptive nodes since the configuration file is only used with cmapplyconf to update the cluster binary, but copying the file to other nodes permits administration of the package on the other nodes.
