1. can i create a CFS with this current software list (note: Package-CVM-CFS A.11.18.00 HP SG Cluster CVM CFS SD Product) so i could create a multi-node package for my cluster to be in a active/active state for my filesystem?

2. or do i still need one of these products?

T2771BA HP Serviceguard Storage Management
T2772BA HP Serviceguard Storage Management Premium
T2773BA HP Serviceguard Storage Management for Oracle
T2774BA HP Serviceguard Storage Management for Oracle Premium
T2775BA HP Serviceguard Cluster File System
T2776BA HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for Oracle
T2777BA HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC

3. will i lose my data if i want to use a CFS vs. my current file system VxFS?

thanks,
amir

Re: Cluster File System Questions

1. Not sure.. YOu need the cluster file system product Normally it is T2775BA. This includes the additional packages for serviceguard. cfgdgadm cfsmntadm and Cluster VXVM version 4 for 11.23 You need CVXVM 5.0 for 11.31

2.Most of the products you mention are for using Oracle RAC for ServiceGuard

3. You create the cluster file system separately from your local disk groups.

The cluster file system can also be used for oracle RAC in leu of using Shared LVM Raw volumes.

Hi Amir,

>>1. You need the cluster file system product HP T2775BA(HP Serviceguard Cluster File System )

2.Products you listed in point 2 are for Oracle RAC so confirm if you are planning to use Veritas CFS with Oracle RAC

3. For safer side you create the cluster file system separately from your local disk groups.

Re: Cluster File System Questions

ok, if i purchase the t2775ba can i use my current filesysem and just make the package a multipoint package or will i lose my data and would have to redo my volume groups/filesystem and then the cluster configuration all over again?

also, i am currently using LVM does that have to change to VxVM in orer to use CFS with CVM?

Re: Cluster File System Questions

"The cluster file system can also be used for oracle RAC in leu of using Shared LVM Raw volumes"

AFAIK, it can be a LVM(shared; either FileSystem/RAW) volumes or RAC raw disk groups(shared).

Both LVM and VxVm are disk management software and both are not needed together(cant't betogether). i am not familiar with CFS.

There are three different Veritas products for HP-UX .

JFS - BaseVxFS (VxFS)
Advanced JFS - OnlineJFS
Veritas Volume Manager - VxVM

VxFS is the standard file system (directories and files) for HP-UX. OnlineJFS allows for online resizing a VxFS file system without dismounting the filesystem.

VxVM is like LVM in that it partitions one or more disks. Both VxVM and LVM are available for supported versions of HP-UX.

Re: Cluster File System Questions

Hi Amir,

One correction to my previous reply...point 1

As CVM bundle includes support for CFS also so you can create a multinode package with existing product list you have.
so I beleive no need to go for T2775BA HP Serviceguard Cluster File System

>>>>you wrote :::just make the package a multipoint package

So are you trying to convert a existing package into multinode package or trying to configure a new one..

About LVM and VxVM, both can stay together but you can not manage same File System using both volume manager same time.

If you will create a new multinode package then there is no loss of data.
