Heartbeat Network

I was wondering if like other Clustering technologies (Veritas, HACMP, Sun) I have implemented can the cluster heartbeat network be cross-over cables directly connected to the other node (2-node cluster)...

Thanks

Re: Heartbeat Network

Shalom,

Crossover cable works with Red Hat Clutering and Serviceguard.

It does solve the problem of your heartbeat network powering down.

You will need to refer to the documentation of the other technologies for further answers.

Re: Heartbeat Network

Yes, a crossover cable can be used in a 2 node cluster for heartbeat connections.

In a previous version of the product we actually shipped a crossover cable.

Re: Heartbeat Network

Even when they can, you should use a switch. You should have two interfaces as interconnect, teaming/bonding/ipmp them together. Normally, the proper working of this kind of teaming requires a network switch as when you power down the other node, your network link will go down.
