MC Service Guard RHEL with AS 3 U5.

Hi,

I have been asked to create a MCSG cluster with a 3 nodes using 3 DL580G3s in our environment. I am a HP UX admin for more than 10 years and have created and maintaining may clusters.

I would like to know what version i can use and would like to use the toolkit. What are the main difference between configuring in HP and in Linux.

Any inputs/experiance is appreciated.

First, take a look here to see what version of SG for Linix goes with what version of Linux:

Second
read the Manual for Serviceguard on linux available at:

Most things are the same, the major differences I can list being:
NO exclusive activation for LVM VG's (at present)
LOCKLUN ios used instead of Lock Disc
Linux bonding is used to give LAN failover capabilities.
Install is done using rpm instead of swinstall.

Not too much else is really different

Is quorum server is required in Linux MCSG setup ?

QS is an alternativde to LockLun.
Personally, I normally recommend teh QS route rather than use a LockLun.

[Serviceguard for Linux]

One resource is the certification matrix available vis the page http://www.hp.com/info/sglx.

This has the latest information on what versions of Serviceguard for Linux support the various kernel versions as well as what HW is supported. I'd recommend A.11.16 (the latest version). While not absolutely required, I'd also recommend that you get the latest patch after you purchase SGLX and support.
