QLogic and acpi=off

Hello,

We had qlogic with acpi=off option being passed to the kernel and we weren't able to obtain the lun's from our storage. Is there any reason why we must keep acpi as is?

ACPI (short for "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface") is a standard that defines power and configuration management interfaces between an operating system and the BIOS.

There had been problems reported caused by the ACPI, including data corruption. Now, the question is, who set acpi=off and why in your system?

I myself did so.
We had a crash for no apparent reason. I had heard some boards cause conflicts with the ACPI turned on I wanted to make sure that wasn't the reason behind this crash so when I booted it I passed acpi=off, however, no storage disks were available with that option on.

Better to find out why the crash happened versus taking guesses that make your system worse.

Check the log files, look for core dumps, do an investigation prior to taking action.
