For shared storage the documentation states support for SCSI and Fibre. We want to use EqualLogic iSCSI SAN with SG/LX on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4. Does anyone know if this is known to work or is supported?

Re: SG/LX and iSCSI

HP does not support iSCSI yet on Linux.

We will not support iSCSI until some time after HP has iSCSI Linux support. There is no firm date for either. So this array cannot be supported now.

There are really two parts to the question on whether it will work.

1. Whether all of the basic functions will work.

2. Whether it will work reliabily.

to answer #1:

SGLX doesn't use any special functions for shared storage for data. There are special functions that are necessary for LockLUN. I cannot detail those functions so you would need to try it.

to answer #2:

This cannot be determined without extensive testing. That is why HP supports so few 3rd party storage systems.
