Service Guard and relocatble IP

Friends,

I want to configure a package with 2 VIPs (MCSG 11.18, RHEL 5.3).One VIP on the production LAN and one on BAckup LAN. Is it possible not to monitor the VIP on backup LAN. Means, the pkg should not failover even if the backup LAN fails.

Thanks

Re: Service Guard and relocatble IP

Yes, it's possible.

Assuming that you use modular (new-style) package configuration: just put in a "monitored_subnet" parameter for the production LAN only, but "ip_subnet" and "ip_address" parameters for both LANs.

It can be done with a legacy-type configuration too. I don't have my notes here with me right now, but if I remember correctly, this behaviour could be achieved by putting a SUBNET line for the production LAN only in the package configuration file, but still configuring IP addresses for both LANs in the package control script.

Re: Service Guard and relocatble IP

Thank you very much.

That solved my problem. Used the monitoring subnet option only for primary lan.

Completed MCSG setup today and it is running fine...
