Serviceguard Oracle Toolkit

Hello friends,
I have a ServiceGuard Cluster mounted and working with postfix and vncserver, I want to add a Oracle instance but what I dont know if I do really need the ServiceGuard Oracle Toolkit to make it work. If I can, could you explain what I would miss? I supose it adds functionality.

Thank you four your support. Regards,

Miguel.

Re: Serviceguard Oracle Toolkit

Shalom Miguel,

Do you need it? No. You can write your own scripts and package control scripts.

Do you want it? Are there better things to do with your time than re-invent the wheel? I'd say yes.

Re: Serviceguard Oracle Toolkit

You would only miss what you do not implement. The Oracle toolkit is simply a script which you plug in to a package control script which allows you to start/stop and monitor oracle. There is nothing to stop you implementing all this yourself. The question you need to answer is, can you implement and support this more cost effectively than spending the money on the official one. If yes, go for it, otherwise buy the official product.
