Serviceguard crossover cable

Hi, does anybody has a document where I can show to my client that a crossover cable it is not supported by HP?? Some HP experts have told me that I must have a switch for this purpose.

I appreciate any help.

Re: Serviceguard crossover cable

Shalom,

I don't know whether its officially supported or not. It works just fine as a heartbeat lan in the crazy lab sitting behind me in my office here. I run heartbeat through 10 BaseT built in LAN cards connected by yes, a crossover cable.

Its better to have a switch, but if you don't have one, a crossover cable is a great way to avoid network congestion for the heartbeat.

Re: Serviceguard crossover cable

Customer-viewable document KBRC00009382
TITLE: Is the LAN crossover cable supported with Serviceguard?

The answer is a guarded YES, but there are some important issues that should be
considered for HA reasons.

Please read the document, or open a case with HP to have the document sent to you.

Re: Serviceguard crossover cable

Now I can see that this configurations is supported, but it has many issues if any lan card fails.
