Does anyone know if Veritas Cluster Manager works with Service Guard?

Re: Veritas Clustering for Service Guard?

Hello,

They are in essence the same thing, so from that I must answer no.

Re: Veritas Clustering for Service Guard?

VCS and MCSG are the same type of product, both are clustering products.

VCS is compatable with hpux 11.00 and above servers.

Re: Veritas Clustering for Service Guard?

Actually, I just found out it does. There is a version of Vertas Cluster Manager that will work with ServiceGuard. It is called CVM or Cluster Volume Manager. It is discribed in the ServiceGuard Manuals for version 11.13 and 11.14 in the "Planning and Documenting a HA cluster" Section.

The HP product ID for CVM is B9117AA

Re: Veritas Clustering for Service Guard?

Well not really the same thing, actually.
CVM or Cluster Volume Manager is an additional product you buy to add on to VxVM, and is a supported product on HP-UX 11.11 and above, but not 11.00.
This can be used instead of LVM for cluster packages in ServiceGuard.
There is ALSO a product called VCS or Veritas Cluster Server, which is a rival for ServiceGuard, and cannot be used WITH serviceguard. It has a product with it called Veritas Cluster manager and the ServiceGuard equivalent is ServiceGuard Manager.

Re: Veritas Clustering for Service Guard?

Thanks again, Melvyn, for your eloquent clarification.

I got my "Cluster Manager" mixed up with "Cluster Server".
