What is subnet monitoring in HP service guard.
Hi Masters,
I have came up with very basic question now. In service guard what is subnet monitoring.
How subnet is considered as down or not reachable, How service guard cluster process determines subnet is down.
I have network structure like, my servers are connected to L2 switch, L2 switch connected to L3 switch, if my L3 switch down will server subnet will go down?
Looking forward for your response.

Re: What is subnet monitoring in HP service guard.
Hi Chandu,
Which cluster u hav configured, legacy or modular.
If modular cluster, in cluster config file we have to define the subnet, It will monitor perticular physical IP in that subnet, it will not monitor whole subnet.
Ur next point is if L3 switch goes down, then definalty whole subnet connected to it wil get down.
hope ur queries resolved.
Regards
Vishnu

Re: What is subnet monitoring in HP service guard.
Hi all,
Finaly I could get answer for my quey,
>> Subnet monitoring means........cluster node will check reahability of another same subnet cluster node.
>> If L3 switch down, if still two cluster nodes are able to communicate each other then cluster will not crash.
