can I use HP raid conroller for this solution

I got a configuration from for a cluster system include the following items

2 Hp Rx 4640 base solution each has 2 internal HD
Hp San solution MSA 1000/1500
OS is REdhat Enterprise LInux As3
HP Service guard Linux for ingerity A.11.16

my question :
there is a single point of falure in internal HD ? no raid contoller in this configuration the internal HD is connected to SCSI
my question ,can we add HP raid controller to mirror the internal HD or is there any problem on adding raid to these 2 system??
if we cant can we enable linux mirror on the system running service guard A.11.16 or this is also not recommended in this senario

blease forword this to HP people

regards

You can add RAID controllers in the servers and use them for the internal disks, no problem. ServiceGuard wouldn't even know it. Actually the OS even wouldn't know it. The OS will see the logical drives.

Hi there.
Take the Raid controler and go ahead with mirroring. Why not set the boot device on the disk array and setup a Raid 1 for the boot devices ? Then the I/O will be handled by the controler, not the CPU.

Or you go with mirroring your internal disks to disks in the array. Should not be a problem.

The other responders are correct. There are no specific requirements or restrictions around how the internal storage is configured.

Use of general HA design for single systems are still a good idea. Adding either the internal RAID controller or use of SW raid for internal storage will protect against disk failure and the resulting unplanned failover.
