Hey;

A cluster is two nodes that are running the cmcld (amongst other things) and talking to each other.

You said you didn't want a package, and then turned around and specified the parameters for a package:

>>if i m having storage and presenting luns to the particular servers.creating mount points.in this case one server goes to down the all mount points should automatically switchover to second stand by server

You will also need an IP address that fails over with the filesystesm so your users will be able to access the storage transparently.

MC/Serviceguard is not a trivial task. When things go smoothly, it's remarkably easy. When things don't go smoothly, however, it can task the troubleshooting ability of even the most seasoned admin.

Creating a cluster checklist can be found at http://www.olearycomputers.com/ll/mcsg/mcsg_crcl.html

Package creation checklist is at http://www.olearycomputers.com/ll/mcsg/mcsg_mkpkg.html

Hope that helps.

Seenivasan.. man you're all over sir.

You also have a similar post on the Linux Forums.

On HP-UX, you have 2 options. CLVM - clustered logical volume manager (ServiceGuard needed?) or Veritas Cluster server. Both of which of course cost $$ in terms of licensing. The Veritas solution however IMHO is the premium solution specially if your site standardised on this approach for clustered storage accross all OS dialects.

And Folks.. I think this gentleman simply wants a Clustered or Highly Available multi-node Solution.

On the Linux forums - he has been given 3 solutions.
