i have a two node cluster running one package on each node.
The cluster holds two primary lan cards for heartbeat/data and has assigned two standby lan cards. Both primary lan cards are assigned to different subnets.
In case of an single point of failure for networking the cluster proceed a switch to the first standby lan.
So it can happen, that a switch peforms to another subnet. In that case the communication fails.
Now i need to know, is it possible to fix a standby lan card to a subnet?
I didn't found a parameter set in the documetation.
Best Regards
Ulrich

SolutionEach standby/primary pair should be isolated connectivity wise to ensure this.
In your cluster ascii file there should be comments saying which lan has which possible standby cards.
If they all are capable of physically reaching each other, i.e at UDP layer, then tthis needs to be separated.

Re: redundant network components in SG 11.18
i have separated my subnets. now the cmquerycl shows only one possible standby lan card for each subnet.
That's what i want to see.
Now i'm going to recreate my cluster.
Thank you for your assistance

Re: redundant network components in SG 11.18
Your cluster will be more stable with a second heartbeat on separate hardware.
I liked to get old Cisco switches for my clusters and use them for a private heartbeat network.
This avoids network congestion bringing down he heartbeat network.

Re: redundant network components in SG 11.18
My cluster is working with the assignment 1 primary has only 1 standby NIC.
I did additional modifications on the cluster heartbeat.
The cluster is working with two heartbeats.
Best regards
