serviceGuard and oracle ODG

Hi

I have been asked to setup a package with oracle dataguard.

I have managed to install all the bits and pieces and made the package.

I can halt and start the package on the primary node no problems. It brings the database down and up.

When i try fail it over to the other node it does not work.

We have a primary node with primary ODG database. On the second node we have the standby ODG database that is being replicated to by the primary.

How do i get the package to swing to the second node and move the standby into primary odg database and the primary into standby mode?

I have attached my .conf file. i have enabled the standby paramter.

any help please.

Hi

The second document is the one i used for the setup.

The first link throws an error.

The page you requested can not be found.

Re: serviceGuard and oracle ODG

Hi works in fire fox. Have seen those documents as well.

Just to clarify we have a node1 with its own eva and own data area with the primary database on the node1.

Via dataguard it replicates to node 2 with aits own eva and own data area with the standby database.

I need the package to to stop the primary database. start the standby database and then use the relocatable ip address.

I used the documents you have refered me to to do this. But i do not see the standby database being changed.

I can stop and start the package on node1 and it stops and starts the database.

However when i try to start it on node 2 it fails.

Re: serviceGuard and oracle ODG

Problem solved.

there was an entry in the /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc.

that had a hashed out entry. However this was not seen by the cluster scripts.

took out entry. so file looks like this.

inventory_loc=/orabin/oraInventory
inst_group=dba
