Hi,

look at /etc/hosts file, check node names and ip. and do nslookup to see node resolves names correctly.

Error says clearly it is issue with hostname resolution.

Check following to verify:

/etc/hosts
/etc/nsswitch.conf

nslookup hostname
nslookup IP Address

Also, make sure that ports are allowed in /etc/services.

Re: upgraded a sg node and can't start it

when you say "upgraded a node from 11.11 to 11.31", did you do an upgrade using Update-UX from 11.11 to 11.23, and then 11.23 to 11.31?
Or did you do a cold install to 11.31?
If so, you should have first removed the node from the running cluster, then after doing the install and recovering various files and directories, verifying networking etc, you should add the node back into the running cluster with cmapplyconf.
Another question, if you did the upgrade, what version of Serviceguard is on the old nodes, and what is on the upgraded node?
