CRN covers HP Composable Infrastructure platform and partner program

The announcement of the new Composable Infrastructure initiative at HP Discover Las Vegas earlier this month caught the attention not only of Discover attendees, but also of industry media outlets nationwide. One of the first to cover and comment on HP Composable Infrastructure was Joe Kovar at CRN.

Described by Kovar as “a new platform for bringing IT resource orchestration and automation to legacy applications as a way to provide cloud-like flexibility,” the HP Composable Infrastructure platform will provide a new Unified API, built around HP OneView, which will allow applications to interface directly with HP ConvergedSystem solutions.

At the heart of the initial launch of the Composable Infrastructure initiative is the HP Composable Infrastructure Partner Program. This program (which already has participants such as Chef, Docker, Puppet Labs, and Ansible) allows partners to provide solutions to customers that reduce the time spent managing their environments and accelerate time to value through flexibility and choice.

“In this first phase, we’re working with partners like Ansible, Chef, Puppet and Docker to develop the API to work with both traditional and new applications,” says Paul Miller, VP Marketing – HP Converged Data Center Infrastructure.

But just like any new innovation, it won’t happen overnight. “This is a journey,” says Miller.

Kovar explains, “HP Composable Infrastructure will be brought to market in phases…In the second phase, HP will focus on adding automation via HP OneView. The third phase will focus on continuous delivery,” he continues.
