HPE and partners discuss how Cloud28+ is accelerating enterprise cloud adoption worldwide

Xavier.PNGAt Discover London 2016, HPE announced the expansion of Cloud28+, a program that links customers with a global, open partner ecosystem of cloud service providers. While at the event, Xavier Poisson, Vice President of Worldwide Indirect Digital Services at HPE talked with theCUBE to provide more details on the announcement. Two Cloud28+ partners joined him in the interview: Aleksi Partanen, Senior Vice President of Digital Services at ALSO, and Amin Ayoub, the head of Cloud Services at Injazat Data Systems.

Cloud28+ launched a little over two years ago in Europe with the goal of eliminating barriers to cloud adoption. Today, Cloud28+ features more than 330 HPE partners (including service providers, ISVs, value added resellers, distributors and systems integrators.) The growing Cloud28+ catalog now contains more than 1,300 different types of services, spanning Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings.

Poisson explained that the idea behind Cloud28+ is to bring together all the components of a hybrid cloud strategy and the ecosystem that supports it. “Cloud28+ provides a community of partners who strengthen the ability of customers to move to cloud computing, helping consumers find the right services for their journey.”

Cloud28+ connects partners and customers – enabling customers to search for solution providers that meet their individual workload and regulatory requirements, including price, SLA, certification level, security requirements and geographic location. Based on the initiative’s growing momentum, HPE is now opening Cloud28+ to partners around the world. Partners can either participate in the existing community or join forces with HPE and other organizations in their geographic regions to create sister communities tied to the same cloud services catalog.

Aleksi Partanen explained how Cloud28+ fits into the strategy at ALSO, a leading European B2B marketplace with more than 100,000 customers in 15 countries. “We’re trying to find different types of cloud services and bring them together for our customers, so they can pick and choose. They can select a bundle and create value added services that they can then deliver to their customers. Cloud28+ represents a great selection of excellent services and service providers here in Europe, which helps us grow our ecosystem further.”

Amin Ayoub reiterated this same theme as he spoke about how Injazat Data Systems uses Cloud28+. Injazat provides information technology, data center, and managed services for government and private organizations in the Middle East. “As IT services grow, we need the latest technology to offer our customers reliable and cost-effective solutions. Cloud28+ helps us choose the right technology and partners to deliver these new solutions to our customers. These state-of-the-art technologies help IT move to the next level of service.”

As companies move to the hybrid cloud environment, Cloud28+ provides customers the capability to connect with a wide range of industry experts, such as ALSO and Injazat. These expert partners offer advice such as how and when to move to the cloud and which cloud services to leverage for different types of applications and services. Cloud28+ also provides a simple way for resellers, service providers, systems integrators and software vendors to connect with a common community.

Poisson explained why Cloud28+ has been so successful in the past year. “HPE is leading the pack in the infrastructure market share in Europe, the Middle East and Africa because we have decided not to go it alone. Instead, we work with a large partner ecosystem of great companies.” Poisson concluded, “Together, we can propose the right solution for our customers, as they move toward a digital transformation. Together, we make it easier for the customer, which is good for them -- and good for us and our partners.”
