Introducing HPE Helion Stackato 4.0: The enterprise-ready, multi-cloud, cloud native app platform

Today we announced HPE Helion Stackato 4.0, the next integrated release of our cloud native application platform.

Enterprise cloud is an amalgamation of seven drivers, each representing one or more order-of-magnitude improvements over “legacy IT” in one of these two axes – agility and efficiency.  Businesses that seize these opportunities gain an insurmountable structural advantage over ones that don’t. Our design goal for this release has been to unlock the advantages of agility and efficiency while shipping a product ready for use by today's multi-cloud enterprise.

Take a look at what's inside:

  • Cloud Foundry Foundation-certified version of Cloud Foundry(R) technology
  • an integrated developer experience incorporating a CI/CD service designed for the enterprise developer
  • a Service Manager, which includes a catalog of developer-focused application services for seamless service discovery and binding.

In addition to a fast and fluid user experience, HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 includes a control plane specially designed for multi-cloud management and orchestration.

HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 ships in the second half of 2016.

Helping enterprises make their cloud transformation journey

HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 runs on AWS, VMware and various distributions of OpenStack, including HPE Helion OpenStack, with Azure coming soon.  Built ground-up for the enterprise, it includes enterprise-grade developer services, including Cloud Foundry technology, Helion Code Engine and developer and application services.

Simplifying the management of cloud native services and the deployment on multiple infrastructures

HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 provides IT Operators with simplified deployment and cloud native services. It's infrastructure agnostic, guaranteeing compatibility across cloud infrastructures. With the Helion Service Manager, operators can easily manage application services while leveraging the Helion Control Plane to ensure the entire application lifecycle.

Besides popular 3rd party services useful for developers, HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 integrates HPE Software services such as StormRunner and Haven OnDemand.

Enabling enterprise developers to focus on code

HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 provides a multi-cloud integrated experience for enterprise developers via the web console. With the web console developers can create applications from a code repository such as GitHub or their enterprise Git account, bind to the various application services and enable a full build, test and deploy pipeline. Managing the entire lifecycle of applications has never been easier.

Developers can choose the language they want, including Java, .NET, Python, Go, Ruby, Node.js. Our platform tooling allows developers to use plugins for existing IDEs like Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse.

Finally, the Helion Service Manager lets developers expand their application functionality. Developers can use a variety of data and queuing services such as mysql, posgress, mongodb and rabbitmq. They can connect to services running in HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 or services specific to their underlying infrastructure (such as AWS RDS).

HPE Helion Stackato 4.0 packs a tremendous amount of value for any IT professional looking to lead their enterprise through a true cloud-native transformation.
