Unquestionably, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are changing the way IT organizations approach day-to-day operations. At HPE Discover in Las Vegas, customers learned how these features are being integrated into HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), along with innovative options for scalability and data archiving. New features and hyperconverged models – from all-flash to hybrid, Intel-based to AMD – continue to deliver density, resiliency, and performance that can significantly impact an IT organization’s bottom line.

Announcing HPE InfoSight for HPE SimpliVity

HPE InfoSight, an industry-leading Artificial Intelligence for Operations (AIOps) platform, equips HPE SimpliVity environments with the ability to predict and prevent infrastructure problems before they happen. Predictive analytics and machine learning provide HPE InfoSight with HPE SimpliVity customers with system trends and forecasts to predict when additional hyperconverged nodes will be required. Data protection analytics analyze consumption patterns to identify when backup resources may be at capacity risk, and predictive wellness alerts alleviate common support issues that impact service. These innovative features save customers time and aggravation, and reduce costs.

Delivered as a service, HPE InfoSight with HPE SimpliVity does not require additional licensing or on-premises deployment, using telemetry data and cloud-based analytics to predict and prevent common issues before customers become aware of them.

New backup and archive node protects tiered data at the edge

IT organizations that need an efficient solution to back up and recover large amounts of data have a new cost-effective hyperconverged option. HPE SimpliVity 380 Backup and Archive node protects archived data in multi-site and ROBO deployments. HPE SimpliVity already has built-in backup for operational recovery of files and VMs, and is equipped with disaster recovery for entire clusters and sites. This new archive node provides long-term storage for VMs and workloads. The centralized large-capacity system aggregates copies in a highly efficient way for longer data retention.

The hybrid node, configured with a mix of large-capacity 4TB HDD drives and all-flash SSD drives, provides all the benefits of HPE SimpliVity, including the ability to backup and restore 1 TB VM in 60 seconds. Software-optimized and scalable, the archive appliance simplifies data management and protection, and provides guaranteed data efficiency for second tier data.

IT organizations can mix HPE SimpliVity 380 and HPE SimpliVity 2600 nodes in a federation. For multi-site hyperconverged implementations that operate in a hub-and-spoke configuration (a central data center with remote sites that replicate data to the central site), HPE SimpliVity 380 Backup and Archive node will remove the need for any WAN optimization devices or expensive network bandwidth capabilities. Central hub site infrastructure can now be satisfied with a cluster of modular, 2U HCI appliances servicing all backup target requirements, which eliminates the need for specialty equipment, and reduces power and cooling requirements.

Highly dense hyperconverged node for space-constrained sites

The latest offering in the HPE hyperconverged portfolio provides customers with a new option when it comes to computer processing. HPE SimpliVity 325 includes an AMD EPYC™ single CPU processor platform with all-flash storage. Built on the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server platform, the HPE SimpliVity 325 provides security and performance in a highly dense, 1U model – the smallest footprint in the HPE hyperconverged portfolio. Customers with remote offices and data centers at the edge and those with space-constrained locations will benefit from the built-in resiliency and data services in this hyperconverged node. Laboratory tests performed by AMD confirm that this compact node can help lower TCO 45% and save up to 50% on software licensing costs.

These new products and features are being showcased at HPE Discover, Las Vegas 2019, along with many other HPE innovations. Come visit the Hyperconverged Zone or the HPE “Petting Zoo” to get hands-on experience with HPE SimpliVity HCI appliances.
