Paddy Power Betfair uses HPE OneView and HPE ProLiant DL servers to manage their datacenter as code

In order to transform a datacenter filled with a high degree of automation, many things have to be taken into consideration -- configurations, infrastructure platforms, applications and management. The challenge comes when all the different systems have their own individual API’s to manage system updates, BIOS setting, operating system installations, network connectivity configuration, storage array configuration, plus more. All of these can generate more than 1000 lines of automation code, which can be extremely challenging.

The good news is that HPE OneView offers a single unified API that transforms physical infrastructure into a single line of code reducing time from hours to minutes. As Alison Golan explains in “Unified API in HPE OneView – best building blocks ever!” blog, “With the unified API in HPE OneView, customers can extend the power of infrastructure automation to every aspect of the data center: virtualization, facilities, cloud and DevOps…to automate infrastructure deployment and updates and manage facilities.”

Recently, HPE hosted its HPE Discover customer event in London, paddypowerbetfair and oneview.jpgwhich was a great success. One of the highlights was HPE customer Paddy Power Betfair on stage sharing their deployment of HPE OneView and HPE ProLiant DL servers and validating HPE’s technology.

In their scheduled session, Paddy Power Betfair explained how they deploy thousands of  HPE ProLiant DL servers every year with the HPE OneView API via integration with Openstack and Ansible. Catch the “Everything as Code” Periscope session replay to hear Steven Armstrong and James Brook demonstrate how they used Openstack and Ansible through HPE OneView API.paddypowerbetfair award.jpg

Shortly, after their Everything as Code session, my colleague Jacqui Bakhai caught up with Steven Armstrong to quickly discuss Paddy Power Betfair challenges and how HPE OneView API help them increase time to market and award Steven with an HPE Customer Recognition award for Innovation.

Paddy Power Betfair not only uses Openstack and Ansible integrations for server management, they have recently introduced Arista as part of their networking solution. In the Supercharge your Datacenter with HPE and Arista Networks session, Paddy Power Betfair explained how they partnered with Arista and HPE to simplify network provisioning and deploy applications faster.

While at Discover, Paddy Power Betfair joined HPE and Arista in an interview with TheCube. Watch the Cube recording for the full details.
