Press reacts to Project New Hybrid IT Stack announcement & HPE Synergy and OneView updates

bigstock--144005663.jpgThis week in Las Vegas, HPE held its HPE Discover summer event. At the event, HPE introduced the next wave of composable innovation called Project New Hybrid IT Stack, as well as expanded capabilities for HPE Synergy and HPE OneView and continued momentum for HPE SimpliVity powered by Intel® hyperconverged solutions. After the announcements were made, the press shared their reactions to the updates and Project New Hybrid IT Stack news. Below are highlights of what a few industry experts had to say.

“Should HPE get its way, companies would use SimpliVity to manage its storage and the Synergy management platform to better organize hardware and software to better operate as a true ‘cloud’ system with both on-prem machines and public clouds accessible to applications.

HPE also wants to go a step further. An in-the-works concept currently referred to as ‘Project New Stack’ would look to provide a single management platform that can be used to combine IT, management, and developer features as well as allow applications to pull from public and private clouds.”

-- Shaun Nichols, The Register

“HPE detailed its plans to become the premier provider of hyperconverged infrastructure to customers looking to build a hybrid cloud platform.

The final piece is what HPE is calling Project New Stack, which will enter beta later this year... The goal is to provide a way to manage applications and data across hybrid infrastructures, including ones that use traditional data center resources.

Project New Stack will ship as an appliance with a single control plan. This new product will offer on-demand provisioning of resources, as well as analytics to help enterprises move workloads around the infrastructure as needed. As with many of these other offerings, Project New Stack will allow developers to create apps and test these applications in real time within a secure environment.”

-- Scott Ferguson, Enterprise Cloud News

“HPE has announced a project aimed at unifying organisations’ IT deployments across various kinds of infrastructure, including standard IT and clouds that may be hosted on-premises or remotely. Project New Stack, which makes it easier to manage an increasingly complex IT environment... is aimed at allowing organisations to allocate resources on-demand across a hybrid IT estate, making it easier to analyse cost and data and identify underutilised resources that can be tapped into.”

-- Matthew Broersma, Silicon

“HPE stepped up the Synergy offensive this week with a significant expansion of the product line aimed at delivering a stronger platform on which to build a wide range of new services. The latest iteration of HPE Synergy has significant enhancements to the compute, storage and networking technology, along with technology integration partnerships that allow channel partners bring new solutions to clients.

The company also unveiled ‘Project New Stack,’ a new offering that would allow its Composable Infrastructure platform to span both on-premises and the public cloud.”
