Hi,
I want to install chef-client on hp 2920-24G(J9726A) switch. But when i try to bootstrap the switch using knife tool by specifying its IP address, it loses the connection stating "net::ssh:Disconnect: connection closed by remote host".
Is there any image of chef that is needed to install on switch for using chef-client on the switch. What is the operating system running on this switch as it shows only version by firing the command "show version" on switch's cli?
Thanks

Re: Installing chef-client on hp2920 switch.
Hi,
The Chef client works on servers running server operating systems... not hardware switches. The HP 2920 runs an embedded HP OS known as Provision.
If you want programmatic control of your network - you need to be using OpenFlow to control the switches and writing applications for our SDN controller. Learn more here - http://hp.com/go/sdn
Andy.

Re: Installing chef-client on hp2920 switch.
Thanks Andy.
Is there no way to run chef-client on that switch? As opscode mentions that chef-client runs on the network switches.
