The ART of enablement

SusanMerriman ‎11-15-2013 06:44 AM - edited ‎06-26-2015 01:51 PM

HP Software Education helps your people to configure, run, maintain, and use our software. One of our solutions, HP ART, has received a lot of interest in the last year or so. A new version, 5.1, is just out and some high profile customers such as EVRY will speak at HP Discover, Barcelona, about how they use HP ART to easily create bespoke training content. So it feels like a good time to chat about what’s new in HP ART 5.1, and how it can help you embrace the new style of IT.

What’s the new style of IT?

The cloud, mobile devices, and the consumerization of IT are changing our industry. Where once IT was an enabler of business, it’s now how business and government are done.

Working together, we can help you work with these trends to build a better enterprise, connect in new ways with customers and citizens, and empower a new generation of tech-savvy employees. But there are challenges – one of which is that, with IT becoming more flexible and agile, people expect projects to be delivered quickly. And I know that IT teams often feel they’re running to ensure that people are trained and prepped to use software before it’s rolled out. The more users you have, the bigger the problem. HP ART is here to help.

The ART of customized training

HP ART is about making your life easier by creating engaging training – for any number of users – as simply as possible. Your experts can record their on-screen activity to provide simulations that walk users through software tasks. Templates are also available to create test scripts, job aids, classroom training guides, how-to demos, and many more supporting materials. You can publish your own content in over 30 languages. Or you can start ahead of the game by using simulations and support documentation prepared by HP’s experts and simply customizing to reflect your business practices.

At HP Discover, EVRY, the second largest IT services companies in the Nordics, will speak about how they use HP ART to:

  • Create and publish training more quickly
  • Consolidate and manage enablement centrally
  • Enhance knowledge-sharing across teams
  • Save time and money
  • Ensure people’s skills keep pace with software changes

With HP ART you can create enablement for virtually any application – customers such as BSkyB are using it to train its customer-facing people in non-HP apps. Also, a lot of customers value the fact that HP ART is a “lifecycle enablement tool.” For instance, HP ART can be used in discussions with decision-makers about how new software will look, to drive management of change with stakeholders, to document configuration decisions, to generate test scripts and upload them into Quality Center, and prepare for user acceptance testing. And of course HP ART can help you enable your users ahead of go live.

New features

Look out for three key things:

  1. An improved template and user experience: It’s easier to customize the HP ART portal to your brand. The interface is also cleaner and easier for your users accessing the site, taking courses and viewing simulations. And 5.1 supports more browser options.
  2. Text to speech: You can automatically convert course text into speech making it even easier to allow the user to listen to the guidance when going through a simulation.
  3. Introducing Arabic: In addition to the 32 languages previously supported, you can now create content in or translate it into Arabic. Published content on the HP ART
