HP launches a collaborative book experience about the future of the enterprise

One of the exciting things about being in the information technology field is that we must constantly challenge ourselves to look forward and ask questions about the future – the future of technology, the world and the enterprise.

  • What trends will shape our world between now and 2020?
  • How will the enterprise evolve by 2020?
  • What challenges will our planet face?
  • What role will technology play in our day-to-day lives?

That’s the intent of Enterprise 20/20, a socially-driven, cloud-enabled eBook full of compelling insights about the future of the enterprise powered by information technology. It is about what it will take for enterprises to succeed in 2020 and beyond.

The eBook will bring together thousands of thinkers from the enterprise community. They will provoke and inspire one another as they discuss the forces transforming our world and the technological innovations that are shaping the future.

Those who read Enterprise 20/20 will be better prepared to bring the challenges and opportunities of the future into focus, and help their organizations do the same.

Powerful content driven by the industry

The six-month collaborative effort is presented by HP and driven by industry leaders, visionaries, academics, partners, and customers who will imagine, discuss and shape the future of the enterprise.

Together, members of the community will examine trends, challenge assumptions and ultimately drill down to the very issues that matter most—to the boardroom, the application development lab, the marketing department, the IT operations center and the CIO’s office.

Enterprise 20/20 will be composed of six chapters opening to the community between HP Discover Las Vegas and HP Discover Frankfurt, December 4-6, 2012:

  • Outlook 20/20, the eBook’s introduction, exclusively previewed at HP Discover Las Vegas, outlines a vision for the world, technology and enterprise of 2020
  • Boardroom 20/20, a vision for the next-generation executive
  • Apps 20/20, a vision for the next-generation applications team
  • Marketing 20/20, a vision for the next-generation marketing department
  • IT Operations 20/20, a vision for the next-generation hybrid IT operations team.
  • CIO 20/20, a vision for the next-generation CIO

The chapters will be viewable in a browser as an eBook, and downloadable in both PDF and iBook formats. The complete book, including an afterword that will tie the book’s content together will, be delivered at Discover Frankfurt 2012.

Dynamic and interactive

New chapters will launch approximately every five weeks and link directly to the “Discussion Hub,” where, after registering, readers can join the discussion and help us create the eBook by commenting, starting discussions and uploading contributions, including text, videos and images.

An HP editorial and community management team will monitor the discussions, and track issues and ideas that are of interest to the community.

Each chapter will be updated several times after its original publication. The updates may include feedback from the community and materials they share.

“Make It Matter”

Technology has radically transformed the world in recent years. In the last decade alone, mobility, cloud, social media, and pervasive analytics have begun to impact the lives of people around the world and created enormous opportunities for enterprises.

What lies ahead during the next eight years? How can enterprises use technology to “Make It Matter?” Stay tuned as we work with the industry at large to paint a colorful picture of the business and technology landscape in 2020.

It might be worth considering a  finance track(might be an overlap)  - for CFOs.  In some case CFO's have added responsbility for CIO role as well, and they do sanction the $$. Currently I see tracks targetted at CIO, IT , Marketing, Boardroom.
