Convert a SMA?

I have a EVA 5000 with a SMA server running W2K and SMA 2.1, Command View EVA 3.0, HSV110 at 3.28.

I had a local engineer inform me that there is a way to upgrade the SMA server to W2K3 that only runs the Command View, changing the SMA to somethin else. If this is the case, can someone point me to documentation that directs a person in how to make this change?
