Domain ID change & zoning

If I change the Domain ID from the default of 1 to whatever other that 8 of course. Will this effect my existing zone configurations?

The zone configuration itself will not change, but devices might loose connectivity if you used port-based zoning, because the domain,port addreses have become invalid.

Hello Kirk,

If you change the Domain ID of the switch, then all zones which have members added using the PORTID/Area ID are affected, you need to modify them to allow them into the fabric.

You must also consider the effect of the above activity on the OS as well, since in HPUX, the lun mapping is based on the domain id of the switch which in turn will change the device names, so you may have to attend to this as well.
