Issue Updating P2000 FC MSA to TS250P003 from TS201R015

(Apologies for the duplicate post...)

I am trying to install TS250P003 on a P2000 G3 Fibre Channel SAN.  The process has been running for over 19 hours and all I see in the Installation log is as follows...

Starting discovery...
Controller A Found - 192.168.1.205 FW Ver: TS201R015
Controller A Status - Operational
Controller B Found - 192.168.1.206 FW Ver: TS201R015
Controller B Status - Operational
Restarting MC.. Please Wait...

And in the P2000 Event log, all I see is...

Is it safe to kill the RomPAQ installer in Windows so I can try again or via FTP?

Hello,

yes, i would kill it.

My sugestion, insted of upgrading your array directly to latest firmware, try middle step - for example TS230 could by nice.

Here is revision history:

I recently upgraded a P2000 from TC220 to latest.

You can update it to latest using FTP - but your system will probably become broken :)

You need to update it in several steps. Old update bundles may or may not work in Windows. If it doesn't work, use the FTP method (ftp to a controller, "put <file> flash"). Make sure you have "partner firmware update" activated, or patch them both manually. I know for a fact that TC230 and TC252 does not work together - the link between the controllers will break and you'll have to revert firmware and remove a controller to correct this.

These steps were _required_ for me. You should probably update your system to TC220 first, or perhaps TC210-TC220.

The updates took about 30 minutes each :/

Save yourself the risk of severe headache by verifying the versions after each step (webgui or SMU "show versions"+"show controllers")

TC220 -> TC230

TC230 -> TC250

TC250 -> TC252

I repeat - if you update to a too new firmware, or if you install incompatible versions on the controllers, you will break the system. The FTP method will not warn you about unsupported FW upgrades.

Good luck! :)
