May I know the HPEVA 4400 146 GB to 300 GB hard drive upgrade?
Hi Everyone,
Any one help me on procedures for 146 GB FC drive to 300 GB drive upgrade on current running HPEVA 4400 array. I would like to replace the 146 GB FC drive to 300 GB FC drive, what is the exact procedure I need to follow?

Re: May I know the HPEVA 4400 146 GB to 300 GB hard drive upgrade?
You can try the following procedure:
1. Populate new 300 GB disks in free slots.
2. From the 300 GB disks, create Disk Group, Vdisk and present to host.
3. Copy data from 146 GB presented LUNs into 300 GB presented LUNs.
4. Unpresent 146 GB LUNs then delete the corresponding vdisks & disk group.
5. Ungroup the 146 Gb disks and remove them.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Zsal

Re: May I know the HPEVA 4400 146 GB to 300 GB hard drive upgrade?
I have done this multiple Times.
It is easy and Online.
Ungroup a few Disks (depend on your Free Space).
Remove this Disks and Insert the Bigger One.
Add this new Disks to the same Disk Group and wait for the Leveling is finished.
Than proceed with the next Group of Disks, until all Disks are replaced.
This thakes a few Days or Weeks, but it is transparent to the Hosts and complete Online.
Thank's to the great EVA Leveling!

Re: May I know the HPEVA 4400 146 GB to 300 GB hard drive upgrade?
But be aware of the protection level!
Let's assume you have double protection (4x146GB reserved space) and you swap a single disk. The reserved space will now be 4x300GB - largest disk in the group.
Make sure you have enough space available.
If there are enough free slots, first add a couple of the new drives and group, then ungroup the smaller old disks.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
