P2000 / Seagate ST3600057SS Firmware 0008

Hi, since June we get replacement drives for our P2000 with Firmware 0008 but on the official sites there is still 0006 available.

Support just says:  "this HDD should work because it's similar to the others" and "...We are in process of getting the code published through the HP process"

but this lasts now more than 2 Months and we still doesn't know why we get this Firmware, what is wrong with 0006 and should we update all drives to 0008.

Does anyone else get this new releases or more infomations about it?

P.S. This thread has been moevd from disk to Storage Area Networks (SAN) (Small and Medium Business). - Hp forum moderator

Firmwares for disks get rolled out during normal enhancement process. Whenever the update is critical, there is an advisory released which asks customers to update them mandatorily. Updates which are not critical are released via an "recommended" advisory.

Advisory in this case is available at below location

This details on fixes, enhancement etc.

Hope this helps you.
