Adding M6412 drive enclosure
Hello I need to add a M6412 drive enclosure to an exinting EVA4400.
This EVA4400 is in continous access with another EVA4400.
To add the M6412 I will use the online process of cabling.
When I add the M6412 I need to stop dr group replication or not?
Thanks

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
No.
The only requirement is that you wait for CV to report that the shelf is online/inline before adding in the second loop.
The one problem you may have (though I think it was just a fluke for me just recently) is the shelf might have a new firmware that needs to be downgraded based on your EVA XCS Firmware.
Before connecting the second loop, check the I/O modules in command view.
Also, you need to have at least 1 disk in the shelf in order to add it.

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
I know this is very old, but hopefully you are still available.
Im in the same situation and need to downgrade the firmware. In commandview, the IO module has been on
'Operational state: Loading firmware' for days now so I dont think it is actually doing anything.
Is there a manual process needed to downgrade the firmware? My previous enclosures are on version 85 and this new one I just got is on version 105.
Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is it ok to use the enclosure with the higher firmware running?
Thanks

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
Why downgrade?
I never found a valid reason for this.
Better use XCS 11300000.
In case of doubt just pull the I/O module and push it back.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
If the enclosure will work without downgrading.....i guess the only reason would be to remove the warnings from command view. I tried reseating one of the modules and it just went back to the same 'loading firmware' status.
Im just concerned about future issues relating to the enclosure and controller having different firmware versions.
But if there is no issue, than i guess I can live with the permanent warnings.
fyi, the loading firmware started on its own.....I did not manually try to downgrade or upgrade. I wish there was a way to just stop the loading altogether and leave the firmware as is.

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
The controller always starts an upgrade (sometimes downgrade) if the firmware is different.
What XCS is installed?
I/O firmware 085 is XCS 09534000, which is unsupported since a long time now.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
Is anyone can provide me latest firmware XCS1130000 ?
Another question
I bought additional disk enclosure (used) and when I powered on I found that the new one has the same id as other one in my environment.
What is the risk, if I'll try to connect this enclosure with the same ID ?

Re: Adding M6412 drive enclosure
I have the same question, we have additionnal disk enclosure (used). If I plug in to my current EVA, will it affect my current data or clash the EVA if that is same ID with others disk enclosure?
Do I need to format it before start to use it?
