Compatibility check of SC08e SAS HBA and HP DL385 G5
Hi, I'm trying to figure out the exact compatibility between an SC08e SAS HBA (6Gb) and a 2 years old DL385 G5, to be used with VMware ESX 4.x and a P2000 G3 SAS SAN.
If I look at the QuickSpec of the HBA the server is NOT listed in the Compatibility Server list.
But if I search the SPOCK for the combination of SC08e and the DL385G5 I found a working Configuration supporting Solaris 10 32/64 bit (see attachment).
Instead, searching for the SC08e, then for vSphere 4.0 I found that the configuration is supported if the server is in the VMware HCL, and the DL385 is there.
I know that the SC08e is a PCIe 2.0 while the DL385G5 has only PCIe 1.x slots, but the card should be backward compatible, or not?
So, where is the truth? :-)
Thank you for any suggestion.
Cheers,
Luca

SC08e is not supported in DL385G5.
